Share the Love – June 2013

PrintGreetings, my beloved readers! It’s time once again to Share the Love with another great blog. I was really excited when the Lord placed it on my heart to feature this month’s blog, Prayers and Promises, authored by Diana Rasmussen. I was excited when the Lord placed Diana’s blog on my heart because Diana is a woman who has been through hell and back, and just like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, her clothes aren’t even scorched, nor does she smell of the smoke from the fire.

To learn Diana’s story, which is truly powerful, please be sure to check these posts out:

There are many of us who have come from abusive backgrounds, and that in itself does not make a blog worth reading. What makes Diana’s blog worth reading is the hope and the practical advice that are offered. As an overcomer of childhood physical and sexual abuse, I believe that those from abusive backgrounds need to read more than someone else’s sad story. We need to read the testimonies of others who have not only been victimized, and not merely survived, but of those who have overcome their abusive backgrounds. For in seeing others who have overcome their painful past, we begin to get a glimpse of what is also possible for ourselves. It is in seeing Almighty God act on behalf of someone who is just as messed up as we ourselves are, that we begin to see that this God who has no favorites (Colossians 3:25 NLT),  can and will act on our behalf as well.

It was as I was reading Do You Hear the Children Crying? Escape, that the Lord moved on my heart to feature her blog for June 2013. As I read this powerful poem, complete with hand drawn pictures from her children, I saw God’s purpose for Diana’s blog, and for others like it. You see, one of the ways the enemy of our soul tries to control and conquer us is by silencing us. One of the biggest struggles for abuse victims is to come forth and speak the truth about what is happening in their home, because of fear and shame, which the enemy heaps on  us. However, there is a way that we can conquer and overcome this accuser of the brothers and sisters…

10 Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens,

“It has come at last—
    salvation and power
and the Kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Christ.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters
has been thrown down to earth—
the one who accuses them
before our God day and night.
11 And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb
    and by their testimony.
And they did not love their lives so much
that they were afraid to die.

(Revelation 12:10-11 NLT)

Many of Diana’s posts are not easy reads, but they are powerful and important, and most importantly, they are Spirit-filled. Cycle of Pain and He Brought Me Flowers would have completely broken my heart had I not known that God has delivered this woman of God.

Diana’s favorite posts are God Blesses What Was Broken and The Blood of Jesus for Protection. Once you read these two posts, you’ll clearly see why they are her favorites. Talk about uplifting, hopeful and joyful — these two posts express that! And no, Diana, after reading The Blood of Jesus for Protection, I don’t think you’re nuts at all — you are simply blessed beyond measure, my friend.

Before I close, did I mention to you that not only does Diana write poetry and prose, but she’s also a singer/songwriter? Well, if I didn’t mention it, I’m telling you now. Please be sure to check out Diana’s Music, and be blessed.

I pray that you all will take the time to visit Diana’s blog and poke around, and Share the Love with her!
