And stepped back in time… As I walked along with him, I was once again enthralled by all of the glorious colors — the hues and shades that I’d never seen or even dreamed of before. The grass was so lush and rich, like a brilliant green gem, almost glowing in its beauty. It was like a lovely green luxuriant carpet, and though there was a sign forbidding me to walk on the grass, I must confess that I was again sorely tempted to do just that. It just looked so lovely, so inviting…
“But hold on now and wait,”
I thought with great strain.
“Could this be my fate?
To repeat this again?”
I looked at my friend
As he nodded his head,
“This is how you are destined to spend
The rest of your life,” he said with great dread…
As he vanished from sight,
My heart filled with shame
I wished I had asked his advice
For I alone was to blame
And oh its cost was such a great price…
